Subtitled "13 Great Books for Kids," this was a really fun article to do for Women's History Month, and I learned a lot. With a little help from my librarian friends I picked out 13 titles, from picture books to high school reference level, that tell a wide range of women's history stories, from inventors to sports heroes to politicians to artists and more. I was also happy to highlight four San Diego area children's authors, Sylvia Mendoza ("The Book of Latina Women"), Kathleen Krull ("A Woman for President"), Pam Munoz Ryan ("When Marian Sang"), and Edith Hope Fine ("Barbara McClintock"). This article ran in the March 2007 issue of San Diego Family Magazine.
